The Waypoint Golden Rules
- Pack one room at a time before moving on to the next.
- Start with out-of-season items, followed by seldom used belongings.
- Leave essential items like soap, towels, toiletries, coffee, paper cups and plates, paper towels, Kleenex, medications, etc., for the last packing phase.
- Carry valuables such as jewelry, precious stones, coin and stamp collections, and money with you—avoid packing them.
- Place curtain rods, dresser hardware, shelving components, and bed or table hardware like bolts and screws in labeled plastic bags. Tape each bag to the corresponding article or use labeled "set up box" cartons.
- Keep the weight per box under 50 pounds and ensure that the lids close flat.
- Do not pack dangerous or flammable items like lighter fluid, paint, oily rags, matches, charcoal, pool chemicals, bleach, oven cleaner, or ammunition, as movers are not licensed to transport dangerous goods.
